My family saw an ad 'AKC registered male German Shepherd, up to date on shots, good with dogs, we've been laid off and can no longer care for him' immediately we jumped on the opportunity to add such a beautiful man to our family. When we arrived it was quickly apparent that he was not a pet at all but a stud for a not so outstanding breeder. Brass had been tied up outside his entire life and only used when necessary. He hadn't seen a vet since xxxx, has only ever been around female dogs and had gashes in his neck from the log chain they had around his neck. We gave them their fee and left in tears. Once we got Brass home we bathed him, checked out his neck and attempted to introduce him to our other male German Shepherds - he is NOT a fan and does not get along with them at all. Unfortunately that means he cannot stay here. Regardless, we have taken him to the vet, they shaved his neck around his wounds and scar tissue, given us a 14 day antibiotic, updated all of his shots including rabies and scheduled him for a much needed root canal - we are also considering getting him fixed to help aid in the house training and to insure that he's never used for breeding again. He is a wonderful dog, the sweetest man around - for not receiving vet care in over 5 years he gave the vet no trouble while they did their full work up, shaved his neck or gave him shots. He gives everyone in the family kisses and he is extremely gentle with our two small children. This guy needs the best family we can find him - there will be an adoption process - there will be questions - we will want to see your home. Because of our relationship with our vet his bills will not cost us an arm and a leg, we are asking for an adoption fee + vetting. Serious inquires only please.
