Tobie Breed: Cockapoo Gender: Male, neutered DOB: 10-31-xxxx Weight: 14 pounds Microchipped Adoption Fee: $225 Tobie came to us as a terrified stray that had clearly had a rough start in life. He was afraid of people and other dogs. Since entering our program, his fear of people has improved tremendously! He still needs a confident owner who understands canine communications and how to help a dog be a dog (and treats them like a dog). He's affectionate and loving once he knows his people and will be a wonderful family member! Our little darling's progress with dogs has been a little slower. He has a great friend in his foster home and plays with him wildly! So we know he can bond with other dogs. However, he is so low on the totem pole of dogdom, that he will be aggressive towards any dog he perceives as lower than he! So, our initial suggestion is a home with no other dogs. Our second suggestion is a home with one other dog that is well socialized and confident- a dog that can continue to help Tobie build his confidence with other dogs and continue to trust them. When on walks, Tobie is great! He is walked properly, with confidence, and at his handler's side. We've had no problems with leash aggression. We do suggest his walks continue to be structured and that strangers be discouraged from petting (although admiring is, of course, welcome)! We are seeking a home without children, since Tobie has had challenges with humans in his past. To keep Tobie safe he needs a home that is quiet, active, confident, and without kids.
